80s Home Renovation Project - Demo Day!

There's nothing like finally ripping out the old and clearing the space for all the possibilities.  This week we demo'd our #80shomerenovationproject master bathroom.  It's soo exciting to see. Here's one last quick look at the before...

and here are the highlights...that big ass jacuzzi tub came out and revealed a really cool surprise...The fluorescent light soffit came out and the space feels so much bigger without that overhang! Who invented those things?  We'll be adding recessed lights on the ceiling above the vanity and then wall sconces on the wall on either side of the mirror above each sink.No demo is complete without finding treasures...this time it was old rat poop.  They had an issue a few years ago (thank goodness it wasn't current squatters!)And there was wood rot from an old shower leak (thus the open drywall areas). We'll be replacing those wood studs now that it is exposed. The best surprise was this HUGE space that exists behind the wall where the tub and shower was.  It's incredible! With some modification, this can and will be a very cool walk-in closet. So cool in fact that the husband wants to takeover that space for his closet rather than keep his existing walk-in which is directly across from the vanity area.  Imagine recessed lighting, a picture window to replace the vent, and little reconfiguration of the venting and frame it out for proper drywall, cedar flooring to help manage the moisture from the shower area, and a custom closet storage solution. What a great find...and what a total waste of space for nearly 2 decades!! Hope you enjoyed the demo story.  Stay tuned for more exciting changes to come!!
