Green Inspiration to Envy - Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Green is a great pop of color and it's showing up a lot in fashion and home decor as we're approaching the Spring season.  Darker greens look very sophisticated with black and white and the lime, acid or apple greens look gorgeous with all the other citrus tones like orange, hot pink and yellow.Try adding a touch of green to your wardrobe or your home in the coming weeks. Again, green against black and white - this room feels very sophisticated summer beach house to me.  The graphic pillow patterns and the zebra ottoman makes this room visually exciting.

Here's a risk free way to add green to your home decor - paint the wall space behind your bookcases.  They painted the entire room here, but the white cabinetry, shelving and moldings keeps it light and fresh and reads more like an accent.

 

This room has a lot of green, but you don't really notice it.  The drapery, bookshelves, and wall art is balanced with neutral stripes on the return walls and in the larger pieces of furniture with pops of orange which is a very complementary color, especially for the Spring and Summer.

Outdoor living spaces are a great place to add more green...take inspiration from nature and include it in your decor and furnishings.

Here is one of my favorite renovation and home staging projects where I used a dark olive green on the walls.  I knew it would look fantastic in the kitchen against the honey oak cabinets, stainless steel appliances and cream tile floors.  Also, it looked amazing in the adjoining family room against the beautiful new hardwood floors.  The best part of the project was when the clients saw the finished rooms for the first time.  They absolutely loved it, but admitted that had I shown them a swatch of the color in advance, they would have challenged the color.  This is the difference between a professional and the general public.  We can envision what the end result will look like rather than just focusing on one piece of the puzzle.
