Staged Home Lifestyle Radio Show with Feng Shui Expert, Catherine Grison

catherinegrisonbells01It was very exciting to launch the Staged Home Lifestyle Radio show on Thursday, September 17. Our special guest was Catherine Grison, a San Francisco based Parisian who has been described by her international clients as a “Decorator Extraordinaire”. Catherine is a certified Feng Shui master with more than 15 years of combined experience in management, communication and coaching, Catherine considers herself a Soul Artisan who transforms and beautifies the life and the environment of her clients, leading them to thrive thanks to decor, psychology and energy adjustments. With her consulting firm, Your French Accent, and her blog, French Shui Café, she provides a unique holistic insight and service answering the needs of both businesses and individuals and this was absolutely evident during the show. Our topic of the week was How Feng Shui Helps Sell Properties but it ended up being much more than that. Here are some highlights…“One shot” corriders are a common problem with Properties.  Some  examples of this are staircases that lead directly out the front door or front doors that open up to a completely open floorplan where you see directly to the back of the house (no walls in between) or a house that is located at the end of the street where the street ends or T-bones into the house. These spaces are problematic because it allows energy to go straight through without having the opportunity to stop and nurture the space.  Catherine provided an analogy with how food nourishes your body.  Like your body, food cannot just pass through or it won’t have the opportunity to nourish you.  You need a way to harness and slow down the energy so it can help rather than hurt you. Some possible remedies are as follows:

  • For the staircase, when inside the foyer, catch the energy by putting crystal lights (chandelier) above the door to deflect the energy or put something on the wall to distract the eye from the staircase.
  • With an open floorplan, add a piece of furniture or a floral arrangement or both in the path to slow energy down.
  • With the exterior of a house, block the impact of too much energy with large rocks and create a meandering path using plants to avoid “straight” paths. You can also add windchimes to create a soft, inviting energy which is inviting to potential buyers.

I was especially fascinated with our discussion on space clearings. This is something that should be done when selling a house.  Space clearings are energy works that you do with sounds and chanting, similar to the Native American sage ceremonies.  Its purpose is to remove energies that are stagnating in a space.  The goal is to remove energies of the predecessors (old/other people’s energy) or bad/negative energy.  This is especially important if there has been a death in the property. She also recommends this if sellers are attached to the home and really does not want to sell.  A space clearing will help open the home to welcome new occupants and remove the pain associated with “having” to sell (i.e. foreclosures, divorces, etc.)   Properties that are not for sale, Catherine recommends a space clearing on a quarterly basis, i.e. every season. To listen to the entire show, I invite you to visit our radio page at http://blogtalkradio.com/Staged-Home-Lifestyle.Join us every Thursday at 10am PT when Alice T.
