CHEERS TO UPCYCLING AS HOME DECOR

Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. It's a big trend in home decor and it adds a charm to interiors that makes everyone feel good about not adding to landfills. It's not just about sustainability, it's about creatively reimagining the use of every day objects. During my recent visit to Texas for the Home Staging Summit, I noticed some very creative uses of upcycling decor at establishments in the Gaylord Texan Resort. This one stopped me in my tracks...a Christmas tree that's made entirely out of wine bottles! This was located in the lobby of the steakhouse, next door to a wine bar. How genius is this? A multi-tier metal frame that's lit and lined with wine bottles. It makes an amazing statement and proved to be a popular picture destination.

This one took me a minute to notice, but it was located above the bar at the Riverwalk Cantina inside the hotel. It's a chandelier made entirely out of used beer bottles...soo cool!! I'm guessing there's a few guys who wouldn't mind one of these in their man cave.

In the same restaurant were these chandeliers made from Tequila bottles! High 5 and Cheers to the designer that came up with these designs.

On that same note, here are pictures I took at a local Urban Outfitters where they used old windows and old doors as wood paneling / art throughout the retail space. It especially has impact because it was used en masse and it's not a uniform design in that each door is different.
