Welcome Back to the A-Z Home Decor Trend Guide 2014.I've been revealing the hottest home decor trends currently heating up the market, design blogs, and the internet and we continue today with the home decor trend that starts with the letter W for...Wallpaper! and more specifically TEMPORARY wallpaper! If ever there was a comeback, wallpaper is definitely "it!" Now if you've ever purchased a house and inherited the wallpaper selections of the previous owners like I have in two of my homes and had to strip it...you'd probably cringe at the mere thought of wallpaper. I get it. But the 'right' wallpaper makes such an impact in a space. As much as I love a lot of the wallpaper choices available today, they're not easy to install or remove so my favorite type is... REMOVABLE or TEMPORARY wallpaper! Yes, you heard me...REMOVABLE WALLPAPER. It's like contact paper for your walls and more and more companies are popping up offering these as options which is fantastic for renters who want to jazz up their walls without going through the drama of having to remove it when they move or anyone for that matter. Should you get tired of a print or want to change up the deocr, you literally just pull it off the wall. No muss, no fuss. It's that easy! So with that said, let me share a few photos of rooms that I designed using Temporary Wallpaper or Tempaper to be exact. Be sure to check out their website for other patterns and colors.

Temporary wallpaper is pretty easy to install. It helps to have two people so one is holding the paper on top and the other person is anchoring it on the bottom, but I've installed it on my own behind my bookshelves and it was fine. Because it's repositionable, you can easily lift it off and reposition it to the right spot to line up the pattern repeats. And when it comes time to remove it, it's super simple...just start from the bottom and start lifting each section. It's seriously that easy! See the picture below of a couple who had installed temporary wallpaper in their entry and hallway and then removed it when it was time to move.

If you're looking for some nice options, check here, here and here. Even Target jumped on the bandwagon with their Devine Color collection. Now for those of you who are still on the fence about wallpaper, an alternative to creating that wallpaper look is stenciling which I think is ingenious. It's a very cost effective route and can create amazing results...see these walls that I stenciled below...not too shabby eh? The black tone on tone wall was stenciled as a result of trying to find a more cost effective alternative to wallpapering.

So what do you think? Can you handle it? Either way, temporary wallpaper or stenciling can create dramatic results. Let your imagination guide you! Have you used temporary wallpaper or stenciling in your home?
